As a Porsche EV owner, you no doubt value your time. With the Porsche Charging Planner, all your drives can become far more time and cost-efficient.

The planner schedules charging along your routes, taking into account your vehicle’s current charging status, real-time traffic levels, and your personal driving profile. It also automatically preconditions the battery in advance of each charge for optimal charging times and performance.

How To Use Porsche Charging Planner for Your EV

The planner is integrated with the Porsche Communication Management infotainment system, working with the navigation and route-planning system. You can also use the My Porsche app to map out your routes before sending them to your car. You’ll need active Porsche Connect Services and active Charging Services.

Charging Stops Are Added Automatically

When the feature is set up, each time you plan a route, charging stations will be added automatically, including predicted charging times. It always calculates the quickest route, accounting for real-time traffic.

You Can Enter Your Desired Charging Status

You may want your car to have a certain charge when you reach each stop or the final destination. You can enter this desired charging status and the planner will adjust the route to ensure you meet that charging goal. This may involve additional charging stops along the journey. The differing power levels of charging stations are taken into consideration when working it all out.

Automatic Battery Preconditioning for Optimal Charging

Whenever a charging stop is planned on the route, your car will automatically precondition the battery as it draws near. Preconditioning lowers or raises the battery’s temperature, preparing it for the charge, saving time, and also protecting the battery from harm.

Planning Your Route Using the Infotainment System

Firstly, tap the navigation icon on your touchscreen. Go to options and select ‘Charge Planning’. Make sure that the charging planner is active. As mentioned, charging stations will be automatically added to any route you plan.

You can prioritize Porsche charging stations or stations with higher power if you like by checking the appropriate box. You can also set the minimum charge level. On the route planner, you’ll see all charging stations and times highlighted; you can assign each stop as either a stopover or destination.

Planning Your Route Using the My Porsche App

Open the My Porsche app on your phone and tap on the map to add your desired destination. Tap ‘Plan’ to adjust the departure times and stopovers as you like. Using the ‘Charging’ tab, you can enter the desired minimum charge state for the battery at each stopover, the battery charge state at departure, and a few other factors. Finally, hit ‘Calculate Route’ and ‘Send’ to deliver the planned route to your car.
